Two young cousins tragically lost their lives in a road accident when a speeding truck collided with their motorcycle on the Damoh-Pathariya road. The victims, identified as Jay Srivastava and Prabal Srivastava, were returning with a cooking gas cylinder when the incident occurred near Khojakhedi between Damoh and Pathariya. Both sustained critical injuries and were pronounced dead upon arrival at the District Hospital in Damoh.
The cousins, Jay Srivastava and Prabal Srivastava, were riding together on the motorcycle with the gas cylinder when the accident happened. An investigation officer from Damoh described the incident as sad and unfortunate, mentioning that the truck driver fled the scene after hitting the motorcycle. The police have filed a case of rash and negligent driving and causing death by negligence, while also reviewing CCTV footage and gathering eyewitness testimonies.
Authorities are still investigating the accident to determine the exact circumstances, including whether it was a head-on collision. Carrying heavy or hazardous items like gas cylinders on motorcycles, especially at night, is deemed extremely risky by the police. They urge the public to avoid such practices to prevent endangering lives on the road. The police have launched a thorough investigation, including searching for CCTV evidence along the route to identify the truck driver who fled the scene.
