Two commuters lost their lives, and 13 others were injured when a passenger bus veered off the road in Ghazni province, eastern Afghanistan. The tragic incident occurred in Qarabagh district early Friday morning, with a missing boy currently being searched for. Blaming reckless driving for the accident, provincial police spokesman Khalid Sarhadi mentioned that an investigation is ongoing.

On March 28, a mini-bus collision in Laghman province resulted in one fatality and 10 injuries. The mishap involved the mini-bus hitting a three-wheel rickshaw and a motorbike simultaneously in Mehtarlam, the provincial capital. The injured individuals, including five children and two women, were promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention, as per the provincial police office’s statement.

Another fatal accident occurred on March 1 in Jawzjan province, northern Afghanistan, claiming three lives and injuring six others. The collision between two high-speed vehicles in the Hadbakhshi region along the Jawzjan-Sari Pul highway resulted in the deaths of both drivers and a female passenger. Urging drivers to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, the provincial police office emphasized the importance of preventing such tragedies through responsible driving practices.

Deadly road accidents persist as a significant challenge in Afghanistan, often linked to poor road conditions, reckless driving, and insufficient safety measures. The country’s rugged terrain and limited infrastructure further compound these risks, highlighting the critical need for enhanced road safety measures.
