Two individuals lost their lives, and over 10 others sustained severe injuries when a private bus crashed into a stationary truck on National Highway-48 near Karjan in Vadodara district, Gujarat. The tragic incident occurred at Dhavat Chokdi bridge as the bus, en route from Aurangabad to Ahmedabad, collided with the parked truck, resulting in a significant impact that trapped numerous passengers inside the bus. Emergency services, including the Karjan fire station teams, swiftly responded to the scene to conduct a rescue operation.
The rescue efforts lasted around 90 minutes, with fire personnel using specialized tools to extricate the injured and deceased from the heavily damaged bus. More than 25 individuals were initially trapped in the wreckage, with two passengers succumbing to their injuries on-site. The injured were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention, with some reported to be in critical condition. Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain the precise cause of the accident, examining factors such as negligence, visibility issues, or other potential contributors to the collision.
In a separate tragic incident in Rajkot district, two individuals were killed in a car accident on the Gondal-Atkot highway. The vehicle lost control between Mota Mandava and Mota Dadva villages, careened off a bridge, and overturned, catching fire and trapping the occupants. Firefighters and police personnel managed to extinguish the flames, recovering severely charred remains from the vehicle. Due to the intensity of the fire, immediate identification was unfeasible, prompting ongoing efforts to identify the deceased using the car’s registration and engine details.
