Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating incident on the Jabalpur-Mandla highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district. The accident, which occurred near Sharda Temple in Barela town, involved a speeding dumper truck and a car on Saturday evening. According to the police, the dumper collided with the car, causing it to get stuck under the larger vehicle.
The driver of the dumper, instead of stopping, continued driving, dragging the car for almost 500 meters along the highway. During this ordeal, the car collided with another vehicle and caught fire, engulfing the entire vehicle within minutes. Despite efforts by local residents to rescue the occupants, the intensity of the blaze made it impossible to save them. Both individuals in the car lost their lives in the fire.
Upon receiving information, police and fire brigade teams rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire. However, the victims had already succumbed to their injuries. The bodies, severely burnt, were sent for post-mortem examination to establish their identities. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident and to locate the dumper driver who fled the scene.
The tragic incident led to a temporary disruption in traffic on the busy Jabalpur-Mandla route as authorities worked to clear the damaged vehicles from the road. Police assured that a detailed investigation would uncover the exact sequence of events that led to the accident. Further information regarding the incident is awaited as investigations continue.
