Two robbers were apprehended for stealing Rs 1.2 lakh in cash and digital gadgets from a car in Vasant Vihar, Delhi. The incident occurred when the driver of the parked vehicle fell asleep, as per a Delhi Police official’s statement. The arrested individuals, identified as Mohd Nadeem and Ravinder, were caught after breaking the car’s windshield for the theft.
The theft took place on January 10 near Palam Marg, leading to the arrest of the culprits. The police managed to recover a Honda Amaze car that the duo used to flee after the robbery. Among the seized items were four bags containing the stolen cash, an iPad, and a pair of AirPods.
According to the police report, the complainant, F Hussain, parked his car on Palam Marg in Vasant Vihar around 11 p.m. while his family went for dinner. Remaining in the vehicle, Hussain fell asleep, giving the robbers an opportunity to strike. The accused arrived, parked their car behind Hussain’s vehicle, and proceeded to commit the theft.
After breaking the car’s rear windshield and overpowering Hussain, the robbers escaped with the cash and devices. Following the incident, Hussain contacted the Police Control Room (PCR), leading to the registration of a case under section 309 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Vasant Vihar police station.
Based on the vehicle registration details and technical surveillance, the police conducted raids in Inderlok and nearby areas, resulting in the arrest of both suspects. Notably, Nadeem had a history of nine criminal cases related to robbery and attempted murder, while Ravinder had been involved in four cases of theft, robbery, and Arms Act violations across various Delhi police stations.
