Two soldiers were injured in an accidental grenade explosion along the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K’s Poonch district. The incident took place during a training exercise in the forward area along the LoC. Both injured soldiers were promptly taken to the 425 Army Field Hospital in Poonch for treatment.
J&K has a 740-km-long LoC in the Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara districts of the Valley, as well as in Poonch, Rajouri, and partly in the Jammu district of the Jammu division. Additionally, the region has a 240-km-long international border in Samba, Kathua, and Jammu districts. The LoC is under the army’s supervision, while the international border is guarded by the Border Security Force (BSF).
To counter infiltration, exfiltration, smuggling, and drone activities from across the border, both the army and BSF are stationed in the area. Terror outfits, with the support of Pakistan forces, use drones to transport arms, ammunition, cash, and drugs into Indian territory. Anti-drone technology has been deployed along the LoC and the international border in J&K to combat this threat effectively.
Despite the use of anti-drone equipment, occasional drone activities by terror handlers in Pakistan still occur to sustain terrorism. Security forces in J&K are actively engaged in anti-terror operations targeting terrorists, overground workers (OGWs), and their supporters to maintain peace and security in the region.
