Two suspected poachers were apprehended in the Agaratoli Range area of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve during a joint operation by forest officials and police. The operation, based on specific intelligence about a potential poaching attempt, led to the seizure of two handmade rifles and a motorcycle. The security team intercepted the suspects before they could enter the protected area for poaching.
The arrested individuals, Jintu Orang and Sarbang Ranghang, were found with two handmade rifles believed to be intended for poaching. The motorcycle they allegedly used was also confiscated. Both suspects are in custody as investigations continue to determine if they are part of a larger poaching network in the region. Kaziranga National Park is renowned for its one-horned rhinoceros population and has been the focus of intensified anti-poaching efforts in recent years.
