Veteran BJP leader Uma Bharti expressed strong support for the reservation policy, emphasizing its role in achieving social justice. Speaking at the ‘Raja Hirdeshah Lodhi Shaurya Yatra’ in Bhopal, Bharti highlighted the importance of reservations in addressing social inequality in India. She stressed that while legal measures are crucial, a shift in societal attitudes is also essential for meaningful change.
Bharti pointed out the disparities in the education system, emphasizing the need for influential individuals to experience public institutions firsthand for true equality to prevail. Drawing on cultural values, she underscored the prevalence of discrimination despite India’s tradition of respecting all life forms. Bharti called for a “third battle” to combat inequality and ensure equal opportunities for all segments of society.
Addressing the Lodhi-Lodha community’s political significance, Bharti noted their influence in shaping governments. Reflecting on her political journey, she recalled resigning from positions of power on moral grounds during key movements. Bharti also expressed optimism about progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. On national security, she asserted India’s determination to reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, citing a strong stance against external threats.
Tourism Minister Dharmendra Singh Lodhi advocated for preserving community history, proposing the inclusion of Raja Hirdeshah’s biography in school curricula. Jalam Singh Patel, the Lodhi-Lodha Mahasabha state president, raised concerns about the neglect faced by former royal families, highlighting the need for recognition and support.
