Sitharaman emphasized the importance of quality infrastructure in driving development and reaching remote areas.
The improved road network is set to improve access to markets and essential services, benefiting the local residents. She engaged with students, discussing various topics like higher education, employment, entrepreneurship, and technology during an interactive session at Kiang Nangbah Government College, Jowai.
At the Wahiajer Football Stadium, Sitharaman interacted with schoolchildren and sportspersons. The stadium, developed at a cost of over Rs 65 crore under the Ministry of Finance’s Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) Scheme, features top-notch sports facilities. With a seating capacity of over 6,000, the stadium is expected to become a significant sporting hub in Meghalaya and the Northeast, promoting talent development and fostering a vibrant sporting culture.
