Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda is set to unveil a special commemorative volume of speeches by Asutosh Mookerjee, published by the Delhi Legislative Assembly. The volume, titled “The Collected Speeches of Bengal Tiger Asutosh Mookerjee,” will be launched to honor Mookerjee’s 162nd birth anniversary. The event, to be chaired by Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, will take place at the Assembly House.
The commemorative volume compiles Mookerjee’s parliamentary speeches into a single collection, offering insights into his ideas on education, constitutional governance, institution building, and public life. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood will grace the occasion as guests of honor. Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht will also be in attendance, alongside members of the Legislative Assembly, jurists, academicians, and scholars.
Asutosh Mookerjee, renowned as the “Bengal Tiger,” was a prominent figure in pre-Independence India, excelling as an educationist, jurist, and nation builder. His significant contributions to higher education, scientific research, academic excellence, and India’s intellectual foundations are highlighted in the publication. Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta emphasized the importance of preserving the intellectual legacy of national icons who have influenced India’s democratic and educational landscape.
In recognition of his educational endeavors, the Government of India issued a stamp in 1964 commemorating Sir Ashutosh Mookerjee’s legacy.
