Union Home Minister Amit Shah led the 26th Central Zonal Council meeting in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region, a first for the council in Bastar. Chief Ministers from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand joined the discussions, focusing on development, law and order, and inter-state issues. The meeting addressed infrastructure, connectivity projects, tribal welfare, health, education, and security, emphasizing the eradication of Naxalism.
Participants also discussed crime control, intelligence sharing, peace maintenance, inter-state disputes, power supply, water management, and security matters. Strategies for Maoist-affected areas were reviewed to enhance security infrastructure and promote development. The meeting stressed swift action on women’s safety and aimed to transform Bastar into a center for tourism, investment, and governance beyond its conflict-ridden past.
The gathering symbolizes progress in a once Maoist stronghold, highlighting improved security and coordination for community benefits. The successful meeting signifies a step towards fulfilling regional aspirations. Attendees included Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka, and Directors General of Police from the four states, among other senior officials.
