The Ministry’s decision is based on the necessity to uphold public order and prevent incitement to offenses. The order, issued by Under Secretary Mahendra Vikram Singh, cites the Telecommunication Act and related rules for the temporary suspension of services. Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh mentioned the government’s efforts to engage in dialogue with the protesting students at Jantar Mantar.
The government has made multiple formal proposals for talks with the protesting students, emphasizing the importance of dialogue to resolve the stalemate. Minister Jitendra Singh highlighted the government’s willingness to address the students’ concerns and urged them to participate in discussions. The Prime Minister’s sensitivity towards the youth’s issues was reiterated, with the announcement of fast-track courts to expedite justice for paper leaks perpetrators.
