Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, visited Mizoram with plans to make the state self-sufficient in fish production and eventually a fish-exporting region. He pledged full support for Mizoram’s proposed development projects, including a Wholesale Fish Market and an Integrated Aqua Park. The Minister highlighted upcoming initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) 2.0, focusing on new fish ponds and enhanced assistance for fish farmers.
Soon after his arrival in Aizawl, Minister Singh met with Chief Minister Lalduhoma to discuss key projects for Mizoram’s development. He emphasized the importance of well-prepared proposals to maximize benefits under PMMSY 2.0. Additionally, the Minister assured support for dairy development in Mizoram, mentioning revised funding patterns for Milk Processing Plants and the consideration of Mobile Veterinary Units for the state.
During the meeting, Minister Singh underscored the significance of promoting local cultivation of animal feed in Mizoram for long-term sustainability. He also addressed the issue of Transport Subsidy for Animal Feed, expressing the Centre’s commitment to supporting the state’s endeavors in this sector. The Minister’s visit coincides with the “Regional Review Meeting: Northeastern Region 2026” in Aizawl, where key projects under PMMSY and Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund will be inaugurated.
