Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs B.L. Verma highlighted the growth in India’s airport infrastructure, noting that the country now boasts 164 operational airports compared to 74 in 2014. The newly constructed Domestic Airport in Ambala Cantonment is set to become the 165th operational airport, with flight services expected to commence soon.
Verma, accompanied by state Energy Minister Anil Vij, praised the development initiatives in Ambala Cantonment. He acknowledged the efforts of various authorities and personnel in realizing this significant project, foreseeing a positive impact on the region’s connectivity and development.

The modern facilities at the airport ensure safe aircraft operations in all weather conditions, with plans for it to serve as a key aviation hub for passengers from multiple states in North India.
The commencement of airport operations is anticipated to enhance regional connectivity, with multiple airlines expressing interest in operating flights from Ambala Cantonment. Final preparations, including domestic flight parking bays, are underway, with the airport expected to be fully operational in the coming week.
