Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia revealed a significant employment plan for Ashoknagar district in Madhya Pradesh, aiming to offer jobs to 2,592 educated youths through the ‘Lakhpati Yuva’ initiative. The initiative involves expanding a call center project to establish a 2,000-seat facility in the district’s second phase, costing around Rs 6 crore.
This expansion will boost the project’s employment capacity from 592 to 2,592 individuals, providing white-collar job opportunities in a smaller district. Scindia, speaking at a public event in Ashoknagar, highlighted that the program mirrors the successful ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme and aims to offer stable employment to educated youth in their native district.
The ‘Lakhpati Yuva’ initiative is designed to promote financial self-reliance among young individuals. College graduates are expected to secure positions with monthly salaries ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000. While 592 youths have already been employed under the current project, the upcoming phase is set to create jobs for an additional 2,000 individuals.
Scindia emphasized that the initiative will help curb migration from smaller towns by enabling graduates to find work closer to their homes, thereby bolstering the local economy. Addressing criticism, he defended the project as a model for employment-driven development, projecting a new economic landscape in Ashoknagar with increased job opportunities for 2,592 youths.
The Union Minister underscored that employment generation is a key focus of the development projects worth nearly Rs 5,000 crore in Ashoknagar, expressing optimism that the district will evolve into a prominent service-sector and employment center in the region.
