Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw criticized the Congress and its allies for opposing women’s empowerment in a social media post. He accused them of revealing their true intentions by going against women’s empowerment initiatives. The criticism comes amidst heightened political debates on women’s reservation and related legislative actions in Parliament.
The ongoing dispute between the ruling NDA and Opposition parties over the proposal for 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies has escalated. While the government emphasizes enhancing women’s representation through this measure, the Opposition raises concerns about its implementation details and timing.
Ashwini Vaishnaw’s comments contribute to the ongoing political disagreements, with women’s political representation remaining a key point of contention. Previously, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also rebuked the Congress during a Lok Sabha discussion, warning them of repercussions from women for not supporting the reservation bill.
