Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu stated that the final report on the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad is anticipated within a month. The investigation, involving multiple agencies and led by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), is nearing completion with full transparency.
Naidu, speaking after attending the India Aircraft Leasing and Financing Summit 2.0 at GIFT City, mentioned that scrutiny of the report can be conducted by any country due to the international nature of the flight. The Centre is providing extensive support to the AAIB in the investigation process.
The tragic crash involved an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick. The aircraft went down in Ahmedabad’s Meghani Nagar area shortly after take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, resulting in the loss of 260 lives, including passengers, crew, and individuals on the ground.
Preliminary investigations suggested that the aircraft experienced a loss of thrust post take-off, prompting a detailed examination of engine systems and cockpit procedures. Subsequently, aviation authorities mandated increased inspections of Boeing 787 aircraft in India and heightened oversight of maintenance protocols.
