Union Minister of Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat attended the 23rd Meeting of the Ministers of Culture of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Member States in Kyrgyzstan’s Cholpon Ata. The Indian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Birender Singh Yadav, and Kyrgyzstan’s official welcomed Shekhawat upon his arrival in Bishkek.
The Indian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan shared that Shekhawat was warmly received and would participate in the SCO meeting from July 18-20, 2026. Kyrgyzstan, holding the SCO chairmanship for 2025-2026, has themed its presidency ’25 Years of the SCO: Together Towards Sustainable Peace, Development, and Prosperity.’
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh previously attended an SCO Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Bishkek, stressing the need for a united approach against terrorism, separatism, and extremism. Singh highlighted the importance of addressing state-sponsored cross-border terrorism and urged decisive action against those supporting terrorist activities.
