Union Minister of Power Manohar Lal virtually inaugurated the commercial operation of Unit–2 (250 MW) of the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project. The project is progressing towards commissioning 3 Units of 250 MW each soon, with the remaining four units set for phased commissioning by 2026-27.
Upon full commissioning, the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, with a capacity of 2000 MW, will significantly boost India’s renewable energy capacity. It will also strengthen the national grid resilience and mark a new era in substantial clean energy contribution.
The Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project will not only supply electricity to 16 states in India but also offer free power allocations to Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Moreover, the North-East region will receive 1,000 MW from the project, enhancing regional energy availability significantly.
