Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Virendra Kumar, conducted the ‘Pledge Against Drug Abuse’ and ‘Ageing with Dignity Pledge’ in Haridwar to emphasize the government’s dedication to a drug-free and inclusive society. This event marked the conclusion of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah, observed from June 17 to June 26, with a Nasha Mukt Rally led by the Minister.
The National Awareness Programme held at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya in Haridwar saw over 1.31 crore citizens participating in various awareness activities. Virendra Kumar praised the 4,000 rally participants for their support in the fight against substance abuse, showcasing broad public backing for the cause.
The event garnered massive support from diverse groups, including students, youths, volunteers from spiritual organizations, and government representatives. Memorandums of Understanding were signed to enhance collaboration between the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and the All-World Gayatri Pariwar, focusing on awareness, community mobilization, and drug demand reduction.
Representatives from different regions and sectors joined the program, emphasizing their joint efforts towards creating a drug-free nation. The event also honored Nasha Mukti Mitras and stakeholders for their remarkable contributions in combating substance abuse and promoting a healthy society.
