Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted the significance of empowering women for the betterment of families and society. He emphasized the crucial role of women’s participation in sports and fitness activities for the nation’s advancement. Mandaviya joined the FIT INDIA Pink Cyclothon in Kolkata on International Women’s Day to advocate for women’s fitness and cycling.
The minister urged people to embrace cycling as a means to lead a healthy lifestyle and contribute to a cleaner environment. He underlined the importance of initiatives like these in fostering a culture of fitness and shared responsibility among citizens. Mandaviya stressed that empowering women directly contributes to the progress of families, communities, and the nation as a whole.
Bombayla Devi Laishram, Avinash Kumar Gupta, Piyali Basak, Adrija Sarkhel, and Smt. Sushmita Singha Roy were among the notable participants in the Cyclothon. The Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative, launched in December 2024, has garnered massive support nationwide, with millions engaging in cycling across various locations. This movement is part of the broader Fit India campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote active lifestyles and daily fitness habits.
Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with several partners, including the Sports Authority of India and various sports associations, Fit India Sundays on Cycle aims to encourage women’s empowerment and inclusive participation. This week’s event specifically focused on promoting women’s fitness and well-being.
