Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi expressed serious concern over the cross-voting by BJP legislators in the recent Karnataka Legislative Council elections. Joshi warned that stringent action is likely to be taken against those responsible for the unfortunate incident.
Joshi mentioned that the party high command is closely monitoring the situation and has formed a committee to investigate the matter. He emphasized that elected MLAs have a duty to support the party’s candidates and that betraying the party for personal gain is unacceptable.
Furthermore, Joshi stated that Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra and Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka will travel to New Delhi to address the issue with the party leadership. He also dismissed rumors of a potential leadership change in the state BJP unit, indicating that decisions will be made by the high command in due course.
In response to queries about his own candidacy for the state BJP president position, Joshi clarified that he is not in contention, citing his current role as a Union Minister and his past tenure as the state BJP president under Rajnath Singh’s leadership.
