Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has cut the number of vehicles in his official convoy by half, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plea for conserving petroleum and energy resources. Going forward, vehicles in his convoy will be utilized based on essential needs to promote efficient and responsible resource consumption. Moreover, Minister Manjhi has urged his departmental colleagues to prioritize public transportation whenever feasible to support resource conservation efforts.
In light of global challenges, Minister Manjhi stressed the importance of such actions to bolster the nation’s resilience. He underscored that the current scenario is part of a worldwide crisis, with the Prime Minister’s initiative aiming to avert potential shortages of petroleum and energy resources in India. Emphasizing a collective responsibility, he called on citizens and public officials to adhere to the Prime Minister’s directive and contribute to safeguarding the nation’s interests.
This move reflects a broader trend in Bihar and other regions, where leaders and officials are embracing fuel-saving practices in response to PM Modi’s appeal. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary recently walked from his residence to the Secretariat in Patna, accompanied by officials and security personnel, as part of this initiative. He has already downsized his convoy for official travel in Patna and neighboring areas in line with the global crisis and the Prime Minister’s call.
Joining the effort, Panchayati Raj Minister Deepak Prakash walked nearly a kilometer from his official residence to the Secretariat. Similarly, Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari opted for an eco-friendly approach, commuting to his office in an electric e-rickshaw.
