Union Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA’s electoral prospects in Kerala, citing widespread support across communities. Rijiju highlighted the popularity of BJP candidate Pratap Kumar in Kollam, emphasizing the significant public backing he is receiving.
The NDA, according to Rijiju, is gaining “blessings from the people of Kerala” and positioning the BJP as a strong alternative to the state’s traditional political forces. Kerala, historically witnessing a contest between the Congress-led UDF and the CPI(M)-led LDF, is now seeing the BJP and NDA as a potential third party option.
Emphasizing inclusivity, Rijiju assured that the Centre is dedicated to the welfare of all citizens. He criticized the Congress for what he termed as appeasement politics and failure to address the needs of minority communities. Rijiju also accused the Congress of misleading the Christian community and claimed that voters in Kerala have now seen through the strategies of both the Congress and the Communist parties.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a globally popular leader, Rijiju credited the NDA government for significant development work in Kerala. Looking ahead to the upcoming Assembly elections, he expressed optimism in the NDA securing “record numbers of seats” and dismissed remarks by Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, stating that “Nobody takes Rahul Gandhi seriously now.”
