Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal criticized the Congress party, accusing it of bringing violence and insecurity to Assam. Sonowal urged voters to support the BJP-led NDA to protect the state’s land, identity, culture, and language. Campaigning in Duliajan, Sonowal emphasized the importance of safeguarding Assam’s heritage and reiterated the BJP’s focus on preserving ‘Jati, Maati, Bheti’.
Sonowal, accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Terash Gowalla and other party leaders, addressed public meetings in Bhadoi and Tengakhat. He later campaigned in Guwahati Central’s Mitha Amtal area in support of BJP candidate Vijay Gupta. Sonowal highlighted the loss of credibility of the Opposition among the public and stressed the need to maintain Assam’s honor and identity.
Describing Gupta as a compassionate and dedicated leader, Sonowal expressed confidence in a strong mandate for peace and development in Guwahati Central. In Duliajan, Sonowal praised BJP candidate Rameswar Teli as a trustworthy and committed leader with broad public support. Referring to historical figures like Lachit Borphukan and Sukaphaa, Sonowal drew parallels between their ideals and PM Modi’s governance approach, emphasizing inclusive growth under the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ vision.
Sonowal highlighted the positive impact of welfare schemes like Arunodoi and PM-Kisan in improving socio-economic conditions through direct benefit transfers. He also mentioned the distribution of over 8 lakh land pattas to indigenous landless families and the removal of encroachments from significant land areas. Criticizing the Congress for its past rule marked by insurgency-driven violence, Sonowal pointed out the transformation in Assam’s security situation under the BJP’s governance.
Urging for a decisive mandate, Sonowal called on voters to ensure the BJP’s success in the upcoming elections to sustain peace, development, and the protection of Assam’s identity.
