Union Minister Giriraj Singh expressed his support for Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s decision to restrict offering namaz in public places, emphasizing the importance of maintaining law and order during religious events. Singh appreciated the efforts of Chief Ministers who prioritized law and order by implementing such measures, particularly acknowledging CM Dhami for ensuring that namaz is not conducted in public spaces.
CM Dhami firmly stated that namaz on roads would not be allowed in Uttarakhand, emphasizing that no one should be exempt from the law. He highlighted the significance of smooth traffic flow and public order, especially during the Char Dham Yatra season, while addressing personnel from the Irrigation and Agriculture departments in Dehradun.
Dhami underscored the need to balance religious practices with public convenience, stating that religious activities should not disrupt daily life or law and order arrangements. These actions align with similar initiatives in neighboring states like Uttar Pradesh, reflecting a broader trend of regulating religious gatherings in public areas.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh also weighed in on cow slaughter and public sacrifice practices in the context of Bakrid-related guidelines. He questioned the prevalence of cow slaughter in other countries and criticized the public display of such acts, attributing it to inciting Hindu sentiments. Singh highlighted the historical reverence for cows in Hindu culture and condemned the practice of sacrificial acts to provoke religious tensions.
