Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son, Bandi Bhageerath, has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days by a Magistrate in a POCSO case. Bhageerath was arrested by the Special Investigation Team and produced before the Magistrate at his residence in Medchal. The Magistrate ordered judicial custody for Bhageerath until May 29 and he was then transferred to Cherlapalli Jail.

The arrest took place at APPA junction in Narsingi, following which Bhageerath was taken to Pet Basheerabad Police Station where a case was filed against him for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl. He was interrogated by the SIT for about two hours, underwent a medical examination at a government hospital, and was later presented before the Magistrate.

MoS Bandi Sanjay clarified on social media that Bhageerath voluntarily appeared before the police for questioning. Despite seeking interim protection from arrest, the Telangana High Court denied Bhageerath this relief. The court proceedings are ongoing, with Bhageerath maintaining his innocence and expressing cooperation with the legal process.
