The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched immediate investigative procedures following an aircraft accident near Baramati. The ministry is dedicated to concluding the investigation promptly. The black box of the aircraft has already been retrieved.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) teams are on-site to determine the cause of the tragic accident. The investigation is being conducted in line with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is focused on ensuring a thorough and transparent inquiry.
Teams from AAIB Delhi and DGCA Mumbai Regional Office are actively involved in the investigation. The Director General of AAIB, G.V.G. Yugandhar, is also overseeing the process. The investigation is being carried out as per the AAIB Rules, 2025.
The Pune Rural Police have filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) at the Baramati Taluka Police Station regarding the crash that resulted in the loss of lives, including that of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The police are currently investigating all aspects related to the accident. The Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will further investigate based on the AAIB team’s findings.
