Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had a heartwarming interaction with the Arunachal Pradesh U-16 cricket team at Surat Airport. The young players were arriving to participate in the Vijay Merchant Trophy. Mandaviya extended New Year wishes and expressed his joy at meeting the budding cricketers.
The boys from Arunachal Pradesh traveled to Surat specifically for the Vijay Merchant Trophy match. The Union Minister was genuinely touched by his encounter with the young players and also wished everyone a Happy New Year.
Mandaviya shared a video of his meeting with the U-16 boys at the airport. The young cricketers enjoyed the interaction and even took photos with the minister, who also joined them for a group picture.
Recently, the Sports Minister virtually inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for a high-performance center at the Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) Netaji Subhas Southern Centre, Bengaluru. The proposed High Performance Centre, with a project cost of Rs 75 crore, aims to enhance India’s elite athlete preparation ecosystem by providing top-notch sports science and support facilities in one place.
The virtual ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, SAI, and HAL, along with notable sportspersons, coaches, and sports science experts. Mandaviya highlighted that the center signifies India’s transition from a participation-oriented to a podium-focused, high-performance sporting nation. He emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming India’s sports landscape under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“This High Performance Centre will ensure that our athletes receive scientifically guided training and recovery support, enabling them to compete and excel at the international level,” the minister stated.
