UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League 2026 (WPL) face a setback as their leading scorer, Phoebe Litchfield, is sidelined due to injury. Amy Jones has been selected as her replacement for the season, joining the team for Rs 50 lakh. Litchfield, a standout in her debut WPL season, showcased impressive hitting skills, scoring 243 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 157, including two half-centuries, 30 fours, and 10 sixes.
In the Orange Cap leaderboard, Litchfield ranks third behind Nat Sciver-Brunt with 319 runs and Harmanpreet Kaur with 260 runs. The WPL announced the recruitment of Amy Jones by UP Warriorz as Litchfield’s injury replacement for the ongoing season. Jones, an English wicketkeeper-batter with 1,666 T20I runs, was signed for Rs 50 lakh.
Expressing gratitude to Phoebe Litchfield, UP Warriorz shared, “Big hits, bigger energy. Thank you for the memories, Phoebe. Can’t wait to see you again.” The team, captained by Meg Lanning, is struggling in the WPL, currently ranking at the bottom of the points table with two wins in six games.
UP Warriorz are scheduled to play against Royal Challengers Bengaluru next and will conclude their league-stage campaign with a match against the Delhi Capitals on February 1.
