A partnership between US anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength and India-focused humanitarian groups aims to enhance school nutrition programs in India and other developing countries. Leaders from both sides view child hunger as a solvable issue that necessitates global cooperation and government involvement.
During a “Purposeful Private Dinner” in Washington, Share Our Strength and the One World One Family Mission highlighted the initiative. The event gathered philanthropists, chefs, entrepreneurs, and social sector leaders to discuss combating morning hunger among children.
Billy Shore, founder of Share Our Strength, noted the organization’s significant growth in India, having reached around 600,000 children with approximately 30 million meals. Shore emphasized the shift towards establishing a broader network in India through culinary events, partnerships, and advocacy.
The collaboration brought together key figures like Sri Madhusudan Sai, founder of the One World One Family Mission, and Rahul Vinod, co-founder of Indian restaurant chain RASA DC. Sai stressed the importance of collective action by governments, businesses, and civil society to address hunger effectively.
