The US military has initiated fresh strikes against Iran, as confirmed by the US Central Command (CENTCOM). These strikes, directed by the Commander in Chief, aim to further weaken Iranian military capabilities utilized in attacking commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. US naval and air assets are actively engaged in operations in the Arabian Sea to enforce a naval blockade against Iran and control maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports.
CENTCOM reported that US service members aboard the USS Boxer in the Arabian Sea are conducting flight operations around the clock to enforce the naval blockade against Iran. The US military has already redirected seven commercial vessels and disabled one to impede their access to Iranian ports. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) retaliated by launching missile and drone strikes against US assets and facilities in Jordan and Kuwait.
The IRGC disclosed that it targeted US aircraft in Jordan’s Aqaba airport with ballistic missiles and damaged several of them. Additionally, they destroyed an American early warning radar system in Kuwait and set fire to MQ-9 Reaper drones at the Ali Al Salem Air Base. These attacks were in response to what the IRGC termed as US provocations against Iranian territory. US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that they have completed nine consecutive evenings of strikes against Iran, targeting military installations, air defense systems, coastal surveillance sites, and other key assets to reduce Iran’s capacity to threaten commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
