The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that the US naval blockade against Iran is fully operational. CENTCOM reported redirecting 12 commercial vessels attempting to breach the blockade, disabling two non-compliant ships, and boarding two for compliance verification. Recently, American forces completed a verification boarding of the Comoros-flagged tanker M/T Charminar in the Arabian Sea.
CENTCOM also took action against another vessel, the Mozambique-flagged tanker M/T Lavine, in the Gulf of Oman after its crew allegedly tried to breach the blockade. The US forces disabled the tanker as the crew ignored warnings and attempted multiple violations. Emphasizing readiness, CENTCOM stated that American forces are vigilant and prepared for further operations in the region.
In a separate update, CENTCOM mentioned conducting strikes against Iran for 13 consecutive nights. The strikes targeted Iranian military installations, drone storage facilities, communication networks, and maritime capabilities to mitigate threats to civilian mariners and commercial vessels in the region. Despite recent attacks attributed to Iran, the Strait of Hormuz remains open for commercial transit with the support of the US military.
