A US service member lost their life in northern Iraq while conducting a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from an Iranian drone, as confirmed by the US Central Command (CENTCOM). Another service member sustained minor injuries and is currently receiving medical care. Following an Iranian attack, unidentified remains were discovered in Jordan by US military personnel, with ongoing verification procedures being conducted by CENTCOM.
CENTCOM has refrained from disclosing further details, including the identities of the affected service members, to respect the families during the notification process. Additionally, CENTCOM reported redirecting six commercial vessels and disabling one as part of the naval blockade against Iran. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) announced the interception and downing of a US MQ-9 drone in Ahvaz, emphasizing continued retaliatory actions against US military targets in the region.
The IRGC Aerospace Force, operating Iran’s advanced air-defense system, shot down the MQ-9 drone under the integrated air defense network’s command. Major General Ali Abdollahi, Commander of the central Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters, issued a stern warning of a severe response from Iran’s Armed Forces to any US aggression. Iran’s IRGC also claimed attacks on a US base in Jordan, a fuel supply dock in Kuwait, and a data center in Bahrain, as reported by state media.
