Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized the Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP), and INDIA bloc, labeling them as “inherently anti-women” before a special state Assembly session. The session aims to address the Opposition’s alleged hindrance of the Women’s Reservation Bill, which aims to boost women’s representation in legislatures.
Adityanath accused parties like Congress and SP of neglecting women’s welfare historically, stating that disrespect towards women is ingrained in them. He highlighted past incidents, including atrocities during previous SP regimes, to illustrate the opposition’s track record on women’s safety and dignity.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Opposition missed a chance to alter its anti-women image by not supporting the Bill. He criticized them for obstructing the Act’s implementation instead of backing it, claiming they could have altered the perception of being anti-women.
Adityanath announced that the special session would solely concentrate on this issue, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for advancing women’s empowerment. He pointed out the NDA government’s efforts to enhance women’s involvement in policymaking, contrasting it with the Opposition’s historical hindrances to women’s rights.
