Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has introduced a series of directives focusing on austerity and self-reliance. He urged the people of Uttar Pradesh to support Prime Minister Modi’s call for conserving resources. In a meeting with top officials in Lucknow, the Chief Minister announced a 50% reduction in official vehicle fleets and emphasized the need for fiscal discipline.

To set an example, public representatives are encouraged to use public transport weekly, and a “No Vehicle Day” is proposed. The state is moving towards a “Work from Home” culture and promoting remote work arrangements for industrial establishments. Additionally, virtual meetings are now mandated for government events to reduce energy costs.

To further conserve resources, the state is shifting towards Piped Natural Gas, Metro rail services, and electric vehicles. The Chief Minister suggested adjusting office timings to reduce traffic congestion and promoting public bicycle-sharing schemes. Residents are advised to save electricity, especially by minimizing decorative lighting in commercial areas after 10 p.m.

A campaign called “Visit My State” has been launched to boost domestic tourism and eco-tourism within Uttar Pradesh. The state aims to promote local products like One District One Product and Geographical Indication-tagged handicrafts. Efforts are also underway to raise awareness about nutrition and natural farming, with a focus on reducing cooking oil consumption for better public health.

The Agriculture Department is tasked with promoting natural farming practices and utilizing cattle dung for agriculture. Measures to discourage unnecessary gold purchases include expanding the PNG network and accelerating the adoption of rooftop solar panels. The state is committed to supporting local artisans and reducing import dependency by promoting indigenous products.
