The Uttar Pradesh government is initiating a two-month-long GPS survey of sugarcane crops in the state, commencing on May 1. This comprehensive effort aims to gather accurate estimates and develop practical solutions. The Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Department will conduct the survey based on the state government’s sugarcane survey policy 2026-27.
The survey will involve informing farmers through SMS services three days prior and will focus on ensuring transparency and addressing farmers’ concerns. Each survey team, comprising a government sugarcane supervisor and a sugar mill employee, will be trained before conducting the survey. The farmers’ presence during the survey is mandatory, with the team visiting their fields and uploading production data directly to the department’s server using GPS technology.
After completing the survey, detailed information such as field area, sugarcane variety, and other relevant data will be shared with farmers via SMS. The verification of surveyed land can be done through the Revenue Department’s website. Sugar mills will upload the final survey data online and display it on their respective websites.
New farmer registrations will be accepted during the survey period, with only those registered by September 30 eligible to supply sugarcane. Applications for yield enhancement will be open until September 30, with varying fees based on farmer categories. The survey will document plant cane and crop details annually, culminating in a comprehensive summary of the total sugarcane area surveyed.
