Uttar Pradesh Minister and Nishad Party chief Sanjay Kumar Nishad expressed concern over deaths resulting from police actions in the state, emphasizing that police should not take on the role of the courts. Following the murder of a hotelier’s son in Ghazipur district, Nishad stated that the truth would emerge after an investigation and pledged support to the victim’s family in their pursuit of justice.
Nishad urged the Chief Minister to conduct a thorough inquiry and ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable. The victim, Vineet Rai, was fatally shot by masked assailants in Ghazipur, with his father alleging police negligence in combating an extortion network and calling for strong action against the culprits.
Emphasizing the importance of due process, Nishad highlighted the right of every citizen to seek justice and respect. He criticized the practice of police taking on judicial functions and opposed the extrajudicial killings of suspects, advocating for legal proceedings to determine guilt and appropriate punishment.
