The government is standing by the bereaved family during this difficult time and is committed to providing necessary support. Ensuring justice for Chakma is a top priority for the state government, along with preventing similar incidents in the future.
Under the direct guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, immediate financial aid has been sanctioned for Angel Chakma’s father, Tarun Prasad Chakma. An initial amount of Rs 4,12,500 has already been released to the family. This assistance is granted under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and the Civil Rights Protection Act, 1955.
Following the Chief Minister’s directives, the case was swiftly processed by the authorities in Dehradun to ensure prompt compensation for the victim’s family. The district-level committee, based on a joint investigation report, expedited the approval process leading to the release of financial aid. The first instalment cheque has been sent to Angel Chakma’s father without delay.
CM Dhami has shown personal concern and empathy by speaking directly to Tarun Prasad Chakma.
