In preparation for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra and the busy tourism and wedding season, the Uttarakhand Food and Civil Supplies Department conducted a high-level meeting to evaluate the availability of domestic and commercial LPG, as well as petrol and diesel supplies. Chaired by Food Secretary Anand Swaroop, the meeting included state-level coordinators, oil company representatives, and District Supply Officers from across the state. Officials were directed to ensure a continuous supply of LPG and fuel to prevent any inconvenience to the public, especially with the anticipated arrival of numerous pilgrims during the Yatra.
During the meeting, various operational challenges were discussed, such as seasonal spikes in LPG demand, increased usage of commercial cylinders due to weddings, transportation issues, and the importance of better coordination at the agency level. District officials were urged to promptly address these challenges. Representatives from oil companies affirmed their commitment to maintaining supplies as per regulations and resolving district-level concerns swiftly. They also highlighted their collaboration with local agencies for seamless distribution.
To ensure smooth delivery and address any disruptions promptly, the secretary instructed oil companies to collaborate closely with gas agencies across all districts. District Supply Officers were tasked with continuous monitoring and immediate action when necessary. Special attention was given to maintaining an adequate supply of fuel and LPG along key travel routes and major stops during the Char Dham Yatra to facilitate pilgrims and tourists without any inconvenience. Senior officials, including Additional Commissioner Food P S Pangtey, were also in attendance at the meeting.
