Vani Kapoor will be starting her season at the Women’s Pro Golf Tour in Ahmedabad this week. After missing the season opener, Vani, who topped the WPG Order of Merit last year with five wins, will join other top players at the event. The field includes last week’s winner Jasmine Shekar, runner-up Ridhima Dilawari, and other prominent names like Amandeep Drall and Saanvi Somu.
Jasmine Shekar aims for another victory, while Ridhima Dilawari seeks to bounce back from her near-win last week. Amandeep Drall is working to regain form for the Ladies European Tour, and Saanvi Somu is looking for her first win on the Hero WPG Tour as a new professional player. The tournament also features seven amateurs, including Zara Anand and Mahreen Bhatia, who have shown great potential and are likely to pursue US College golf opportunities.
Mahreen Bhatia, who defeated Vani Kapoor in the 2025 leg in NOIDA, and Zara Anand, who finished as runner-up in previous events, are among the amateurs in the field. Jasmine, the previous week’s winner, will start in the first pairing, while Vani Kapoor will play alongside Ravjot Dosanjh and Vidhatri Urs. Amandeep Drall and Ridhima Dilawari will be in the final group for the tournament.
Jasmine Shekar dominated the opening leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour 2026 at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club, securing a wire-to-wire victory with a bogey-free 5-under 65. She finished with a total of 8-under 202, four shots ahead of Ridhima Dilawari. Jasmine’s consistent performance over three days earned her a winner’s cheque of Rs. 2.30 lakh from the total purse of Rs. 17 lakh.
