Vanshika Chaudhary and Chirag Sharma claimed victory in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, boosting India’s gold medal count to five. The duo outperformed Aliaksandra Piatrova and Mikita Daubash from the Individual Neutral Athletes team to clinch the top spot.
In the qualifiers, Vanshika and Chirag led with a combined score of 582, while another Indian pair, Mohini Singh and Himanshu Rana, secured bronze with a tally of 407.4. This win marked Vanshika’s second gold in the tournament and Chirag’s second medal, following his earlier bronze in the junior men’s air pistol event.
India also had finalists in the Trap men’s and women’s competitions, with Zuhair Khan and Bhavya Tripathi both finishing sixth in their respective qualifiers. Bhavya later placed eighth in the junior women’s trap final, while Zuhair finished seventh in the men’s final.
The Indian contingent at the Cairo junior world cup has amassed a total of 14 medals, including five gold, silver, and four bronze medals each. The upcoming final day will feature the 50 rifle 3 positions men junior and the trap mixed team junior events.
