Thol Thirumavalavan, the president of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), declared that the party will exclusively contest the Uzhavarkarai Assembly constituency in Puducherry. This decision came after discussions with alliance partners, where it was agreed that the Congress and DMK would support the VCK candidate in Uzhavarkarai. The VCK will not actively campaign in other constituencies but will back Congress candidates as part of the alliance understanding.
Thirumavalavan has initiated campaign activities in Uzhavarkarai to support VCK candidate Selva Pushpalatha. He will also campaign in key constituencies in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu where alliance candidates are competing. Additionally, reciprocal arrangements will see Congress candidates supporting DMK nominees in constituencies allocated to the DMK to avoid vote division within the alliance.
The VCK chief expressed confidence in the secular alliance’s prospects for a significant victory and forming the government in Puducherry. He highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among alliance partners and governance focused on welfare in garnering public support.
