Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez visited Rajghat in New Delhi to honor Mahatma Gandhi, highlighting Gandhi’s principles in shaping the India–Venezuela relationship. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Rodriguez to discuss bilateral ties, regional, and global issues of mutual interest. Both leaders expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and advancing the interests of the Global South.
Acting President Delcy Rodríguez and PM Modi held discussions on various aspects of bilateral cooperation, including energy, trade, investment, healthcare, and automobiles. The leaders also shared perspectives on global and regional matters of mutual concern. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar commended Rodriguez for her dedication to enhancing the partnership between India and Venezuela.
Rodriguez’s visit to India aims to deepen ties between the two nations and explore opportunities for collaboration in sectors such as energy, pharmaceuticals, and automobiles. The Venezuelan delegation accompanying Rodriguez will engage with Indian sites to understand technological and industrial capabilities for potential partnerships. India has been a significant partner for Venezuela, particularly in energy and investment sectors, with Indian PSUs making substantial investments in Venezuela.
