Veteran politician ‘Panruti’ S. Ramachandran has announced the formation of a new political outfit named MGR Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MGR ADMK). The 88-year-old leader unveiled the party flag in Chennai, stating that the organization aims to promote a society with equal opportunities for all.
The core philosophy of MGR ADMK, as highlighted by Ramachandran, emphasizes shifting from identity-based politics to ideology-driven governance. While the party will not directly participate in elections, its members are allowed to support like-minded parties or run as Independents if they choose to do so.
Ramachandran expressed his views on the upcoming Assembly election, predicting a significant competition between the DMK and the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). He refuted claims that the decision to establish the new party was influenced by external pressures or recent political events, asserting his independent stance.
Having a rich political history, Ramachandran served in various capacities under prominent leaders like M. Karunanidhi and M.G. Ramachandran. With extensive ministerial experience spanning 15 years, he handled crucial portfolios such as Transport, Local Administration, Electricity, and Food. Despite facing electoral challenges in recent times, his latest initiative signifies ongoing involvement in Tamil Nadu’s political arena.
