Amid controversies over financial irregularities related to Ram Temple donations, VHP President Alok Kumar has staunchly supported Champat Rai, the former General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Rai resigned earlier this week, citing moral responsibility, following allegations of misappropriation of offerings like cash and ornaments made by devotees at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Alok Kumar emphasized that the Trust’s actions reflect its commitment to a transparent and prompt investigation into the matter.
Addressing concerns about Champat Rai’s influence on the investigation, Alok Kumar highlighted that both Rai and Trust member Anil Mishra voluntarily stepped down to ensure a fair probe. The Trust took immediate steps, including a preliminary inquiry, identification of culprits, recovery of funds, and initiation of legal proceedings based on the Special Investigation Team’s findings. Kumar reiterated the trustees’ dedication to uncovering the truth and holding the responsible parties accountable.
Alok Kumar criticized political leaders demanding Champat Rai’s resignation, pointing out instances where leaders facing allegations did not step down. He compared Rai’s actions to those of prominent politicians who remained in office despite serious accusations. Kumar underscored the differences in conduct between Champat Rai and other political figures embroiled in legal controversies, emphasizing Rai’s willingness to facilitate a thorough investigation by resigning from his position.
