Vice President J.D. Vance has revealed a new initiative targeting alleged fraud within the H-1B visa program. The US Department of Labor has initiated numerous subpoenas and investigations against foreign entities accused of exploiting the system to harm American workers. Vance made this announcement during an anti-fraud event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, emphasizing the need to protect taxpayer funds and prevent abuse of visa programs.

The focus of the crackdown extends beyond federal spending programs to include employment-based visas like the H-1B program. Vance highlighted that the program was originally intended to enable talented individuals such as technology experts, scientists, and doctors to work in the US. However, he expressed concern that some corporations and overseas fraudsters are misusing the program to suppress American workers’ wages.

In his address, Vance emphasized the administration’s commitment to preventing abuse of government programs. He stressed the importance of ensuring that American jobs benefit US workers rather than being exploited by foreign fraudsters. The Department of Labor’s enforcement actions against foreign entities attempting to misuse the H-1B visa program are part of this broader effort to safeguard American jobs and uphold program integrity.
