Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for elevating India’s traditional medicine globally during the 81st Foundation Day celebrations of Nisargopachar Ashram in Pune. He highlighted the significant role of AYUSH institutions in promoting preventive and holistic healthcare, contributing to the country’s medical and wellness tourism sector. Radhakrishnan stressed that yoga and naturopathy complement modern medicine and are valuable contributions from India to the world.
India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat was underscored by the Vice President, who also emphasized the need for a Swasth Bharat, with institutions like Nisargopachar Ashram playing a crucial part in achieving this vision. He encouraged the adoption of balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, mental well-being, and a lifestyle in harmony with nature for overall well-being.
Addressing the prevalence of lifestyle diseases, Radhakrishnan highlighted the enduring relevance of the Ashram’s message in today’s context. He reiterated that health encompasses complete physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, not just the absence of disease. In a fast-paced world, he noted that true happiness stems from peace, balance, and harmony in life.
The Vice President emphasized the interconnectedness of health with societal well-being, stating that individual health leads to strong families, which in turn contribute to a prosperous society and nation. He also unveiled the book “Secrets of Our Happiness” by Narayan Hegde, Managing Trustee of the Ashram, underscoring the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and the farmer who donated land for the Ashram’s noble cause.
Describing Nisargopachar Ashram as more than just an institution, Radhakrishnan portrayed it as a movement and philosophy inspired by Gandhi’s vision of simple living in harmony with nature. He echoed Gandhi’s belief in nature as the ultimate healer and emphasized the importance of simplicity, discipline, and alignment with nature for true health.
