Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan unveiled a coffee table book titled “Atal Bihari Vajpayee: The Eternal Statesman” by BJP leader Vijay Goel at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. Describing the event as an honor, the Vice President paid tribute to Vajpayee, lauding him as one of India’s eminent leaders. The book, more than a photo collection, celebrates Vajpayee’s life and enduring influence.
Recalling his personal interactions with Vajpayee, the Vice President shared his experience of serving as a Member of Parliament during Vajpayee’s tenure. He reminisced about organizing a public meeting addressed by Vajpayee in 1974, a significant moment in his political journey. Vajpayee’s journey from a parliamentarian to Prime Minister exemplified the strength of Indian democracy, earning him respect for his integrity and inclusive governance.
Vice President highlighted Vajpayee’s leadership milestones, such as the Pokhran nuclear tests and infrastructure projects like the Delhi Metro, showcasing his vision for national progress. He emphasized Vajpayee’s ability to balance strength and sensitivity in leadership, advocating for dialogue, democracy, and development. Describing Vajpayee as a multifaceted personality, the Vice President praised his parliamentary eloquence and commitment to democratic values.
Appreciating Vijay Goel’s work on the book, the Vice President commended the compilation of rare photographs and personal stories from Vajpayee’s life. He expressed optimism that the book would resonate with readers nationwide, inspiring future generations to uphold unity, democracy, and social cohesion. The event was attended by dignitaries including Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh, and former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi.
