Actor-turned-politician Vijay is set to hold a public meeting at KTC Nagar in Tirunelveli on Wednesday as part of his campaign for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The rally, organized to support Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidates in Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts, has been granted police clearance with a focus on crowd management and security. Party coordinator Sengottaiyan assured strict adherence to guidelines while questioning the specific restrictions imposed on TVK-related events.
Following the public meeting, Vijay will lead a roadshow covering various areas like Thalayuthu, Thachanallur, Washermanpet, Samadhanapuram, and the court complex before returning to KTC Nagar. The party is awaiting permissions to expand its campaign to Pudukkottai, Tenkasi, Mayiladuthurai, and Ranipet districts, with applications already submitted online.
The campaign drive comes amidst nomination-related issues involving Vijay and his party candidates across the state. While Vijay faced no problems with his nomination in Tiruchy East, his papers for Perambur were briefly scrutinized due to objections raised by a PMK candidate regarding property tax payment. Tensions rose before the nomination was eventually accepted after clarifications from TVK representatives.
In Villivakkam, the nomination of TVK executive Adhav Arjuna was briefly delayed over incomplete disclosure of companies under his wife’s name, which was resolved later with additional information. A more significant controversy unfolded in Edappadi, where the nomination of TVK candidate Arun Kumar was rejected, leading to his disappearance and subsequent rejection of his wife Nithya’s nomination.
Meanwhile, in Chidambaram, candidate Pari’s nomination and that of his substitute, his father Nedunchezhiyan, were accepted without issues, contrasting the disruptions seen in other areas.
